Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at the Southcote Centre (part of Philip Southcote School), based at Epsom and Ewell High School, within the Bourne Education Trust.

Our HLTAs are responsible for providing highly effective, targeted provision and care to pupils, under the guidance of Teachers and Senior Leaders, in order to raise standards of achievement for pupils to become independent learners.

About Philip Southcote School

Philip Southcote School is a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities School for students aged 11 to 19. As part of Bourne Education Trust (BET), a successful multi-academy trust comprising twenty-four schools across Surrey, Hampshire, and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, we are committed to "Transforming schools...changing lives."

We are extremely proud of our educational offer which has the overarching goal of preparing our students for adulthood. Philip Southcote School is a place where students quickly establish a sense of belonging and feel safe throughout their educational journey with us.

Spread across five sites within Surrey, each learning provision is staffed and resourced to meet the individual needs of all Philip Southcote students.

  • Philip Southcote Main School: A 3-Form Entry site for students aged 11 to 16 years.
  • Philip Southcote Sixth Form: For students age 16 to 19 years, this state of the art and newly opened site at The Meads is within walking distance from the main school.
  • Philip Southcote Satellite Centres: Our centres are based within mainstream secondary schools. Chertsey High School, Chertsey, Epsom and Ewell High School and Kings International School, Camberley.

Details

  • Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Southcote Centre, Epsom and Ewell High School, Ruxley Lane, West Ewell, Ewell, Surrey
  • Contract: Term time, permanent
  • Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08.00-15.30, 37 weeks per year.
  • Salary: FTE £31,658 / Actual £25,121 (35 hrs / 37 weeks)

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working as part of a team, under the direction of the responsible Teacher, support teaching provision, development and implementation of learning for pupils
  • Under the guidance of the responsible Teacher, facilitate the learning of individual pupils and groups, setting high expectations and promoting positive attitudes to learning
  • Prepare, plan and deliver specific intervention programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil response and need

Requirements Include

  • Ability to demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent appropriate qualification)
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant Qualification, or willingness to undertake qualification
