About the Organisation
Are you a Life Changer? Do you want to lean in and transform the life of a child?
Compass Community puts children first through its therapeutic, innovative approach. Integrity, Courage, and Care shape how they work. They listen deeply, challenge one another, and fix what needs fixing—together.
This is the work. And we’d like you to be part of it.
Why We Work Here
Our children come from a wide range of backgrounds but all require Social, Emotional and Mental Health support (SEMH), and many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Communication difficulties
Many have experienced significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences and may have social care involvement.
At Compass Community, work is both varied and challenging. As a trauma and attachment-informed organisation, all staff receive extensive therapeutic training and support.
Our closely-triangulated approach places the child at the centre of decision-making, ensuring collaboration between:
- Education and therapy professionals
- Parents/carers
- Local authority teams
- Most importantly, our students
This ensures that all stakeholders work together to secure outstanding outcomes for children.
The Role: HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)
At our school, HLTAs know that no two days are the same—just as no two children are the same. Our children require very special adults who can support those with complex and challenging behaviours.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
