Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31 August 2027

Pay Grade: Grade G8 to G12

Full Time Salary: £27,709 to £29,541

Actual Salary: £10,617.06 to £11,319.02

Hours: 16.50 hours, 39 weeks per year.

Starting: 1 September 2026


We are seeking to appoint a friendly, enthusiastic, professional HLTA to work with our children at Isham, who understands the learning and pastoral needs of primary children. The role would entail working alongside our teachers collaboratively, assisting with the planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.

Here at St Marys we offer a well-balanced, engaging and relevant curriculum, allowing our children to learn about their local environment and the ever-changing world they live in. We are fortunate to have extensive outdoor space and offer a wide range of curriculum enrichment through trips, visitors and extra-curricular activities. We want to foster an enthusiasm for learning that remains throughout their life while equipping our pupils with the physical, emotional, social and intellectual skills they need to be happy and successful.

We Are Looking To Appoint Someone Who

  • Is enthusiastic, approachable and friendly
  • Will ensure all children feel safe, happy and able to learn
  • Will create a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment, working collaboratively alongside our Teaching team
  • Understands how to tackle challenging behaviour in children with respect and understanding, following the school’s Behaviour Policy
  • Is supportive of the ethos of a Church and Trust school
  • Understands our children and our community and who is able to build supportive and respectful relationships with children whilst maintaining confidentiality and following the school’s Code of Conduct
  • Who is prepared to undertake appropriate CPD to develop their skills including First Aid training and annual Safeguarding / Child Protection training
  • Understands the importance of Child Protection and is committed to the safeguarding of children’s welfare - both at home and in school
