Sutton, South West London | Specialist SEN School Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity (September Start) Salary: £650 - £800 per week
About the Role

The school specialises in working with pupils aged 11-19, supporting those with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Communication difficulties
- Moderate learning difficulties
- Social, emotional, and sensory needs
Collaboration between teachers, therapists, and senior leaders ensures a structured, nurturing, and highly personalised approach to education, helping each pupil achieve meaningful progress.
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you’ll:
- Deliver targeted interventions
- Support EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) outcomes
- Lead learning for individuals, small groups, and classes as needed
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary team (Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and others)

- Deliver targeted interventions to support academic, communication, social, and emotional development
- Lead learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes
- Assist teachers with planning, preparation, and adapting learning materials
- Implement personalised learning programmes and track EHCP progress
- Promote independence, communication skills, and emotional regulation
- Support pupils with Autism, complex needs, and additional learning difficulties
- Collaborate with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and medical professionals
- Monitor pupil progress, maintain accurate learning records, and contribute to annual reviews and support plans
- Model best classroom practices for Teaching Assistants (TAs) and primary staff
- Implement positive behaviour support and therapeutic approaches
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children/young people with SEN and additional needs
- Experience delivering interventions and working independently in education
- HLTA qualification (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Strong understanding of Autism, communication needs, and personalised learning strategies
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Nurturing, calm, and resilient approach
- Strong behaviour management and classroom support skills
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to inclusive education and pupil achievement
