Job Opportunity: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Peterborough
Salary: £28,598 - £31,022 FTE per annum / Pro rata: £7,949 - £8,775 per annum Type: Permanent, Part-time, 12 hours per week

THE ROLE
Sacred Heart is seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individual to join us as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This self-motivated role requires the ability to communicate and interact effectively with pupils and colleagues while maintaining high standards.
The HLTA will:
- Collaborate with teaching and senior staff
- Take responsibility for planned learning activities under guidance
- Plan, deliver, and assess lessons
General Responsibilities
Under the instruction and guidance of teaching or senior staff—and aligned with the school’s ethos—HLTAs will:
- Teach lessons to individuals, groups, or entire classes
- Monitor, assess, and record learning progress
Specific Responsibilities
- Under guidance, deliver lessons to the class.
- Provide feedback to pupils on progress and achievement under teacher direction.
- Assist with planning learning activities.
- Create and maintain a supportive, purposeful, and orderly learning environment—aligned with lesson plans—and help display pupils’ work.
- Implement strategies (협업하여) to support pupils’ achievement of learning goals.
- Monitor pupils’ responses to lessons and record progress per teacher directives. Provide detailed, regular feedback to staff on:
- Pupil achievement
- Progress
- Potential challenges
- Promote positive behaviour management, resolving conflicts and incidents in line with school policy. Encourage pupils to take responsibility for their actions.
- Prep, maintain, and manage lesson resources and equip pupils in their use, including ICT support and developing competence.
- Adhere to and promote school policies on:
- Child protection
- Health and safety
- Security and confidentiality
- Data protection (Reporting concerns to appropriate staff as needed)
- Champion inclusivity, ensuring equal learning opportunities for all pupils.
- Comply with organisational willl be paid per hour
