HLTA – High Level Teaching Assistant (Cover Supervisor Role)
Position: HLTA (Cover Supervisor) Location: Old Park Primary School, Old Park Rd, Wednesbury, WS10 9LX Working Hours: 32.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday, term-time + 5 training days) Grade: Grade E (SCP 18 – 25), £31,537 – £36,363 p.a. (actual salary: £24,824 – £29,483 p.a.) Start Date: Required ASAP, subject to satisfactory clearances Closing Date: Tuesday 14th July 2026, midday
About the Role
Old Park Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support our outstanding (Ofsted May 2024) school in delivering exceptional education and care.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in:
- Teaching whole classes in a range of year groups;
- Covering PPA sessions for fully qualified teachers;
- Supporting classroom management and providing feedback to pupils per our school’s policy;
- Engaging in schoolwide training initiatives, including curriculum support, professional development, and curriculum management;
- Contributing to school development when needed;
- Assisting particularly children with SEND and fostering inclusivity.
You will work closely under the Deputy Head for Curriculum and receive:
- Annual appraisals for ongoing support;
- Whole-school staff development to advance your career.

About Old Park Primary School
Old Park caters for children from Nursery to Year 6, ensuring an excellent start for all pupils, including those with SEND. We are proud of the individual progress of our learners and welcome diverse backgrounds.

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- A passion for learning and working in an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative environment;
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) and HLTA vocational route, if applicable (preferred);
- Strong classroom management skills;
- Ability to provide targeted feedback to children following our policy;
- Fluent spoken/written English (Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requirement);
- Enthusiasm and commitment to the role.

- Safeguarding training expected for a school committed to protecting pupil well-being; basic training can be provided.
- Staff development provision to enhance skills and career progression.
Security Clearances
- All candidates will undergo safeguarding checks, including DBS applications (barred persons cannot apply—it is illegal to apply if so).
Eligibility
- Must have the right to work in the UK and technically meet Part 7 immigration criteria.
