Springfield Infant School and Nursery
Address: Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 4PP
Salary: £28,142 - £30,024 pro rata
Hours: 28.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
Contract: Fixed term until 30 August 2027. Required from September 2026
Reference: 5267

Springfield Infant School and Nursery is seeking to appoint an effective, positive and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our friendly, hardworking and skilled team.

You will be working under the guidance of our SENDCo and teaching staff to enhance the learning and personal development of SEN children in our school. You will be working with a small group of children to ensure they have access to the best possible education.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting the development of children to work 1-to-1, or in small groups, with children across our school. This role is suited to qualified HLTAs or qualified teachers taking a career break.

As an HLTA, you will:

  • Have excellent communication skills and use these to build strong relationships with children
  • Be able to use your own initiative as well as to work as part of a team
  • Have strong inter-personal skills including the ability to use judgement and common sense
  • Work with class teachers across our 3-form entry infant school to raise the learning and attainment of children
  • Promote children’s’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
  • Cover and lead class teaching as and when appropriate
  • Give support to children, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning, and experience a sense of achievement
  • Have a calm and patient approach
  • Enjoy learning and be able to share your enthusiasm with children
  • Value our children in their richness and diversity.
