HLTA / Grade 6 Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEN School – Chester

Salary: Daily pay rate £130-£150

Contract: Full-time, September start

Hirecracker Education are working with a Special Educational Needs school in Chester who are looking for a compassionate and experienced HLTA to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, MLD & SLD.

  • Leading learning activities for small groups and individual pupils with SEN
  • Supporting pupils to access a personalised and adapted curriculum
  • Delivering targeted interventions to develop communication, literacy, numeracy, social, and life skills
  • Using a calm, consistent, and nurturing approach to support behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet pupils’ individual needs
  • Supporting the development of pupils’ independence, confidence, and self-esteem
  • Acting as a positive role model for pupils and supporting less experienced support staff where appropriate

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification / Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • School based experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and organisational skills
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
