A Great Opportunity for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist

Provide psychology input to the Kingston Hospital Psychiatric Liaison Service.

About the Role

This is a varied role with opportunities to use your skills in direct assessments and interventions with service users, as well as indirect work to support the whole team in gaining a psychological perspective when formulating and planning interventions.

Responsibilities

  • You will have a wide breadth of work, including working with people presenting to hospital due to mental health crisis, as well as supporting other hospital inpatients who have co-occurring mental health difficulties.
  • You will work alongside other professionals including psychiatrists and nurses, helping to develop the whole team approach to managing their cases.
  • You will have strong links with the SWLSGT Acute & Urgent care Psychology team.

The Service

The Kingston Liaison Psychiatry Service provides a comprehensive specialist service to patients, clinicians and carers on the Kingston Hospital site and within the Kingston Hospital Emergency Department. You will be responsible for the delivery of a specialised psychology service providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
