Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist
Senior Clinical Psychologist (Learning Disabilities & Mental Health)
We are seeking an enthusiastic psychologist passionate about improving the quality of care and support for individuals with mental health problems and learning disabilities.
About the Role
You will bring thoughtfulness, resilience, and energy, working within a multidisciplinary team in a busy learning disability healthcare setting. The role offers exciting professional challenges and the opportunity to collaborate with external partners to develop supportive networks.
You will provide psychological assessments and interventions for:
- Individuals with learning disabilities and mental health concerns
- Those with behavioural difficulties
- Settings including community environments, with individuals, group sessions, families, and staff teams
The team is committed to:
- Clinical excellence
- Valuing and developing staff through training and career opportunities
- Active involvement in service innovations
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
- Deliver a highly specialist clinical psychology service for adults with learning disabilities, including those with:
- Mental health needs
- Complex behavioural challenges
- Work as an independent, autonomous practitioner, accountable for all clinical decisions.
- Adhere to:
- Professional guidelines (including safeguarding policies, multidisciplinary and trust protocols)
- BPS (British Psychological Society) standards
- HCPC competencies
- Provide psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions, including:
- Direct work with clients
- Collaboration with carers, staff teams, or families through indirect support, monitoring, and consultation
- Offer psychological expertise, consultation, and advisory support to:
- Non-psychologist colleagues
- Care staff and family carers
