Job Description: Specialist Occupational Therapist

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to be supporting the provision of Occupational Therapy on the PIPE at HMP Hindley, working in close partnership with custodial staff and North West Psychology Services who are the lead providers of the service.

About HMP Hindley

HMP Hindley is a Category C male prison located in Wigan.

About the PIPE

The Preparation PIPE at HMP Hindley is a specialist 10-bed residential unit within a training prison, forming part of the national Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway. The service provides a psychologically informed, supportive environment for individuals with complex personality-related needs who are not yet ready to engage in structured treatment interventions. The PIPE focuses on building engagement, emotional stability and interpersonal skills through consistent relational practice, structured activities and dedicated keywork. Staff are trained to work in a psychologically informed way, using everyday interactions to support behaviour change, improve relationships and reduce risk. The service aims to prepare residents to progress to more intensive OPD interventions, enhance their ability to manage risk and relationships, and support safe and effective progression through their sentence.

Role Overview

We are recruiting a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the team at HMP Hindley. The candidate will ensure the delivery of a high-quality Occupational Therapy service within the PIPE.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
