8a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (0.6 WTE)
About the Role
We are recruiting for an 8a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist post in a secondary care multi-modality therapy team. The post holder will serve as a senior therapist within the psychodynamic modality, specialising in the treatment of adults with moderate-to-severe mood, anxiety, and personality disorders.
This role involves experienced clinical practice in psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as line management, supervision of therapists, and consultation/link-working with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities

Therapeutic Work:
- Manage a caseload of psychodynamic psychotherapy cases, focusing on complex presentations.
- Conduct assessment and therapy within the psychodynamic framework.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-modality team, alongside Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) psychotherapists and Clinical/Counselling Psychologists offering treatments such as CBT, trauma-focused CBT (tf-CBT), schema-informed therapy, and EMDR.

Leadership & Supervision:
- Support the Lead 8b Principal Psychodynamic Psychotherapist in service delivery and strategic decision-making.
- Line-manage and supervise more junior staff within the team.
- Provide professional supervision to younger or less experienced therapists.
- Participate in service audits and development projects.

Consultation & Collaboration:
- Provide consultation and teaching to other professionals.
- Engage in link-working with Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) and co-working opportunities.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary working while maintaining a focus on psychodynamic practice.

Team & Operational Requirements:
- Work in an established multi-modality team based at Jeanette Wallace House, Croydon, with referrals and sessions conducted at face-to-face locations across Croydon.
- Wednesdays are a mandatory team day, ensuring consistent collaborative practice.
Requirements
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (preferably with 8a or above status).
- Extensive experience in treating adults with mood, anxiety, and personality disorders using psychodynamic approaches.
- Proven ability to supervise and manage staff within a therapy service environment.
- Knowledge of evidence-based psychological therapies to support multi-modality collaboration.
