An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join the Stroke Speech and Language Therapy Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are looking for a clinician who is passionate about improving outcomes for people with stroke, who wants to develop advanced clinical skills to deliver expert assessment and intervention for communication and swallowing disorders. Alongside delivering evidence-based care in acute and rehabilitation settings, the successful candidate will contribute to supporting staff, service improvement and innovation.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Working with other Band 7 SLTs in the Stroke team, as well as junior colleagues and assistants.
    • Being part of a large dynamic SLT service, with opportunities for peer supervision and collaboration with other SLTs at NUH.
    • The Stroke service operates across City and QMC campuses.
    • Access to FEES and videofluoroscopy with opportunities for training and development of your clinical and leadership skills.

This is a full-time post but we would consider part-time requests. There may be a requirement to work on the weekend and bank holidays as part of a rota.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
