Speech and Language Therapist (Band 7) - North Essex
Location: Chelmsford or Colchester
We are seeking a passionate, flexible, and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to deliver outstanding support to children and young people across various settings in North Essex.
About the Role
This Band 7 position entails coordinating, delivering, and overseeing a high-quality, evidence-based service primarily within the realms of complex needs and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). Opportunities also exist to:
- Supervise and manage SLTs
- Develop the skills of therapy assistants
- Hold a highly specialised clinical caseload in designated schools
- Lead service delivery in fully supported settings
- Contribute to the planning and oversight of Therapies service delivery
This role operates as part of both the Speech and Language Therapy team and the broader multi-disciplinary SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Therapies team.

Primary Responsibilities
- To lead on service delivery in designated settings
- To manage a highly specialist clinical caseload within schools
- To supervise and line-manage therapists and assistants
- Develop team members’ skills and growth
- To contribute to the planning and delivery of the Therapies service
- To actively collaborate across the SLT team and wider multi-disciplinary SEND Therapies team
