The Role
With a robust pipeline of interesting civil engineering and public realm design projects, the Highways Design Engineer will join the Highways and Infrastructure team and play a key role in the delivery of a variety of highways design projects.
Opportunities are available from Engineer through to Principal level, with responsibilities tailored to experience. Whether you are looking to further develop your technical expertise or take on greater leadership responsibility, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging and varied schemes while contributing to the continued growth of the team.

You will be involved in managing and delivering multiple projects, with senior-level opportunities available to lead delivery teams and provide technical guidance across schemes including town centre redevelopments, new cycle ways, civic squares, junction improvements and carriageway maintenance schemes, to name a few.
About you
As a Highways Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of highway projects. You will work closely with a team of engineers, technicians, and project managers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective designs that comply with relevant standards and regulations.

We are keen to speak with candidates across a range of experience levels, from engineers looking to develop their career through to experienced professionals ready to take on Principal-level responsibilities.
You can tick off most of the below:
- Strong CAD skills (Civil 3D desirable).
- Familiarity with NEC forms of contract, Document Control, and Common Data Environment (CDE) software.
- Previous experience managing project objectives, timelines, and budgets, and preparing necessary documentation while liaising with clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborative skills to engage with stakeholders to meet project expectations.
- Experience supporting junior engineers and contributing to technical excellence (particularly for senior-level candidates).
- Ability to take ownership of projects and provide technical leadership where appropriate.
