Are you a Highways Design Engineer looking for a role where you can gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, rather than being siloed into one area?
An established and growing transport & infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Highways Design Engineer into its Gateshead office. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative team delivering a wide range of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.

The Role
As a Highways Design Engineer, you'll support the delivery of highway design packages across a range of projects.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Designing roads, junctions, roundabouts and pavements
- Supporting the delivery of highway schemes from concept through to detailed design
- Producing technical drawings using AutoCAD / Civil 3D
- Working closely with transport planners, drainage engineers and other disciplines
- Supporting project delivery across multiple schemes
- Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders where required
What We're Looking For
Experience in highways design, particularly:
- Roads
- Roundabouts
- Pavement design
- Experience using AutoCAD (Civil 3D beneficial)
- Experience working within a consultancy environment
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
