Shape the future of Plymouth's highway network

Plymouth is Britain's Ocean City – a vibrant waterfront city renowned for its stunning waterfront and coastline. As one of the largest urban authorities in the South West, we manage an extensive and diverse highway network that plays a critical role in connecting communities, supporting economic growth and enabling sustainable travel.

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Highways Asset Manager to lead the strategic management of Plymouth's highway infrastructure and our Asset Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity to influence long-term investment decisions, shape asset management policy, secure external funding and help ensure the Council continues to deliver a resilient and sustainable highway network.

As Highways Asset Manager, you will provide strategic leadership for the management of Plymouth's highway assets. You will oversee asset management policies, strategies and plans, ensuring investment decisions are informed by robust evidence, data and modelling to maximise value for money, manage risk and support a resilient highway network. You will also play a key role in maintaining compliance with national highways guidance and securing external funding opportunities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
