Where will you be working?
At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK.

You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.

What Will You Be Doing
- Manage the day-to-day running of the Depot, leading the Depot Coordinator, Store Person, and Operatives, setting objectives and maintaining company and contract standards.
- Lead by example to create a safe, efficient, and high-performing team, working closely with scheduling and commercial teams to improve depot performance.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Welfare, Quality, and Best Practice standards.
- Investigate SHE incidents, complete reports, and share lessons learned across the business.
- Build strong client relationships through regular meetings, managing budgets and delivering excellent service to Hampshire Highways.
- Work with the Commercial team to understand Depot Cost & Value reports, identifying challenges and opportunities.
- Participate in Winter Maintenance and Emergency Response standby rotas, supporting service delivery when required.
- Hold regular meetings with Supervisors and Scheduling teams to ensure efficient work programming and timely resolution of safety defects.
- Support training delivery by working with the Training Coordinator to maximise attendance and training effectiveness.
- Develop specialist knowledge and skills that support business improvement and operational excellence.
- Mentor apprentices and support their development within the business.
- Provide flexible support across depots, including covering supervisory duties when required.

What You’ll Bring
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relevant to the industry.
- Experience in the Highways sector, with knowledge of Sector Schemes and NRSWA; SSSTS and CSCS Supervisor accreditation preferred.
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of how operational performance drives business success and customer value.
- A positive role model who motivates teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality customer service.
- Able to build strong, collaborative relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Competent in Microsoft 365 and work management systems, with the ability to interpret performance, budget, and workload data.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Takes ownership of issues and uses strong communication skills to achieve positive outcomes.
- Adaptable and flexible, with a positive approach to change and continuous improvement initiatives.
