Job Title: Highways Lighting Operative

Location

Pontypool

Salary

From £25,948 - £27,011 (depending on skills and experience) + additional benefits including family, financial, and wellbeing support.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (plus overtime)
  • Fixed-term contract, ending April 2027

About the Role

Enerveo manages over 1 million street lights across the UK and Ireland, adopting a customer-first approach with design, project management, consultancy, installation, and maintenance. The team focuses on reducing energy consumption and carbon footprints, helping towns and cities become smarter, greener, and more efficient.

We’re seeking a Highways Lighting Operative to help deliver vital street lighting and highways electrical work, ensuring public safety and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks may include:

  • Installing and maintaining street lighting apparatus, signposts, and signs
  • Conducting excavation and reinstatement work in highways
  • Safely and professionally operating Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs) and HIABs
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical systems and equipment
  • Implementing preventative maintenance protocols
  • Strictly adhering to safety guidelines and regulations
  • Ensuring high-quality service delivery for clients and the public

Requirements

Essential

  • Reliable, safety-focused mindset
  • Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • Experience in public lighting, highways maintenance, or infrastructure works
  • Comfort with working at height (MEWP usage)
  • Full UK driving licence (required to cover multiple locations)

Nice-to-Have

  • IPAF/PASMA training for working at heights
  • Good knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Completion of the G39 Electrical Safety Course (for public lighting)
  • HGV Class 2 Licence
