Highways Lighting Operative

About the Role

Job Title: Highways Lighting Operative

Base Location: Pontypool

Salary: From £25,948 - £27,011 (depending on skills and experience), plus a range of other benefits supporting your family, finances, and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday – Friday 7.00am - 3.00pm, including overtime.

Contract Type: Fixed term until April 2027.

Enerveo manages over 1 million street lights across the UK and Ireland, contributing to smart, green, and efficient towns and cities. In this role, you’ll help drive this vision forward by designing, installing, and maintaining street lighting solutions.

  • Install and maintain street lighting apparatus and furniture, including lights, signposts, or street signs.
  • Conduct excavation and highway reinstatement works as needed.
  • Operate mobile elevated working platforms (MEWPs) and HIABs safely and professionally.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs to electrical equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Adhere to strict safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional service to clients and the public.

Requirements

Essential

  • Reliable and safety-focused attitude.
  • Fluent in outdoor working (all-weather readiness).
  • Experience in public lighting, highways maintenance, or infrastructure work (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Comfortable with working at height (MEWP experience helpful).
  • Full UK driving licence (essential due to varied site locations).

Desirable ‘Nice-to-Haves’

  • IPAF/PASMA certification for working at heights.
  • Knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Completion of the G39 Electrical Safety Course (public lighting).
  • An HGV Class 2 licence.
