Highways Maintenance Operative

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Severn Bridge Inspection and Maintenance (SBIM) contract team. You will be part of a dedicated and safety-focused workforce maintaining one of the UK’s most critical transport links, helping to keep road users moving safely and efficiently.
The standard hours of work are up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There may be a requirement to participate in standby and emergency response outside of normal working hours.
What will the role offer?

What You Will Be Doing
- Undertaking routine highways maintenance activities across the Severn Bridge network
- Supporting bridge and structural maintenance works
- Carrying out inspections and identifying defects
- Delivering cyclic works including drainage, vegetation and fencing maintenance
- Assisting with traffic management in line with Chapter 8 requirements
- Operating plant, tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Ensuring all work is delivered in compliance with health, safety and environmental standards
- Responding to incidents and emergency call-outs when required

We Want To Hear From You If You Have
- Experience in highways maintenance or a similar operational environment (desirable)
- A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- CSCS / Highways Passport or willingness to obtain
- Traffic Management qualification (desirable but not essential)
