Supervisor

We're looking for a Supervisor to join our Shropshire team on a 3 month fixed term contract based at our Longden Road depot.

Location: Shropshire - Longden Road, SY3 9EL

Hours: 40 hours per week - site based

Contract: 3 Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £37,796 per annum

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key role within our highways maintenance team. As a Supervisor, you'll be responsible for overseeing site teams across the Shropshire region, ensuring that reactive, routine, and minor works and schemes are delivered safely, on budget, and to agreed timescales. You'll play a vital role in planning, health and safety management, and supporting your team's development. The successful candidate will need to be available for winter service and emergency out-of-hours work when and if required.

Responsibilities

As a Supervisor, you'll be working within the Highways Maintenance Team, supporting them in delivering high-quality works safely and efficiently. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Planning and coordinating programmes of work, ensuring delivery to time and budget
  • Conducting regular safety site inspections and promoting best practice across all sites
  • Managing and developing your site team, supporting their career progression and competency development
  • Ensuring all health and safety standards are maintained, including compliance with CDM regulations and traffic management requirements
  • Collaborating with supply chain partners to improve standards and celebrate team successes

Requirements

This role of Supervisor is a great fit if:

  • A Site Safety Management qualification is held, such as SMSTS or SSSTS
  • Experience has been gained supervising highways maintenance activities and teams
  • An NRSWA Supervisor card and a full UK driving licence are held
  • Strong planning and organisational skills are combined with a proactive approach to health, safety, and quality standards
  • Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Excel to support day-to-day operations and reporting
