About The Role

Balfour Beatty Living Places is seeking a Highways Operative – Pothole Pro to join our Lincolnshire Highways Revenue Team. Based within our Lincolnshire contract, you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving the local highway network, helping to keep roads safe and serviceable for communities across the county.

Working as part of the reactive maintenance and patching teams, you will operate a Pothole Pro vehicle and undertake a range of highway maintenance activities, including emergency repairs, routine maintenance, winter service operations, and making sites safe. This is a hands-on role where safety, quality, and customer service are at the heart of everything you do.

You will be joining a team committed to delivering essential infrastructure services while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and operational excellence.

What you'll be doing

  • Operating the Pothole Pro and carrying out carriageway patching and pothole repairs across the Lincolnshire highway network.
  • Undertaking a wide range of highway maintenance activities, including routine, cyclical, and reactive works.
  • Supporting emergency response activities, including out-of-hours call-outs when required.
  • Assisting with winter maintenance and gritting operations.
  • Completing temporary and permanent repairs to highway assets.
  • Working safely and effectively in accordance with Balfour Beatty's Zero Harm principles and all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Using plant, equipment, and materials efficiently to deliver work to the required quality standards.
  • Following work schedules and instructions issued through handheld devices and ensuring tasks are completed right first time.
  • Working collaboratively with supervisors, operatives, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of maintenance activities.
  • Acting as a professional ambassador for Balfour Beatty when interacting with customers, clients, and members of the public.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Highway maintenance and civils works.
  • Pothole and carriageway patch repairs.
  • Traffic management activities.
  • Linear drainage, kerbing, ironworks, concreting, or paving.
  • Plant and machinery operation.
  • Winter maintenance and gritting operations.
  • Driving and operating specialist highway maintenance equipment.

Desirable Qualifications Include

  • Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence.
  • NRSWA accreditation.
  • CSCS card.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Lantra qualifications.
  • CPC and plant operation certifications.
  • Relevant highway maintenance or winter service qualifications.
