Senior Highways Engineer – Transforming the Future of Transport

About the Role

At Jacobs, we reinvent tomorrow by solving the world’s most critical problems—from thriving cities and resilient environments to cutting-edge manufacturing and scientific discovery. We turn abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

As a Senior Highways Engineer, you’ll drive technical excellence, innovation, and safety across a wide range of transportation projects. Your role will include:

  • Taking ownership of key design deliverables, identifying opportunities for automation and process efficiencies.
  • Ensuring scope changes are escalated appropriately to maintain programme and budget integrity.
  • Collaborating closely with discipline leads and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Working with global leaders in the transportation sector, including National Highways, Transport Scotland, Welsh Government, and major contractors.

With projects spanning international megatransformations (e.g., NEOM The Line, King Khalid International Airport) and UK community-driven schemes, you’ll have the chance to shape transport infrastructure—locally and globally.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
