Highways Supervisor

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Site Supervisor – Highways Construction & Maintenance to join our Area 12 Maintenance & Response (M&R) team, based at Birdwell Depot.
In this role, you will support the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of highways construction and maintenance schemes across the strategic road network. You will supervise site activities, coordinate resources, and ensure all works are delivered in line with programme, budget, and compliance standards.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Supervise day-to-day site operations across highways construction, maintenance, and improvement schemes
- Ensure works are delivered in line with Amey processes, contract requirements, and statutory regulations
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards
- Brief, coordinate, and manage site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Monitor progress against programme and report performance to the Site Manager and wider project team
- Deliver site inspections, audits, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
- Ensure works meet required quality standards and specifications
- Manage site resources including labour, plant, and materials effectively
- Maintain accurate site records including diaries, permits, and inspections
- Identify and resolve operational issues, minimising disruption to customers and road users
- Liaise with National Highways, local authorities, clients, and stakeholders
- Support delivery of drainage, resurfacing, structures, and traffic management works
- Contribute to continuous improvement and sharing of best practice across the Area 12 team

We Want to Hear From You If You Have
- Experience supervising highways construction and/or maintenance projects
- Strong knowledge of National Highways standards and specifications
- Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour teams
- Ability to interpret drawings, programmes, and technical specifications
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Stakeholder management experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
Ideally, You Will Also Have
- Experience within a Maintenance & Response or Major Projects environment
- Knowledge of NEC contracts
- Experience working on the Strategic Road Network (SRN)
- Temporary Traffic Management experience

- SMSTS or SSSTS
- CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving Licence

- NRSWA Supervisor
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Temporary Works Supervisor
- First Aid at Work
- Temporary Traffic Management qualifications
