Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.
Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Officer to join our Highways Finance team. This varied and rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical administration with excellent customer service and wants to play an important part in supporting the delivery of highways services across Central Bedfordshire.
As our Technical Officer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of Highways Agreements, including Section 278 and Section 38 agreements, as well as managing the Vehicle Crossover (VXO) and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging schemes. You will work closely with colleagues, developers, contractors, and residents to ensure applications are processed efficiently, financial records are maintained accurately, and services are delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administering the Highways Agreement service, including the technical processes associated with Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
- Managing the technical administration of the Vehicle Crossover (VXO) and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging schemes.
- Monitoring income, raising invoices and purchase orders, and proactively managing outstanding debts.
- Managing the Highways Imprest Account, ensuring sufficient funds are maintained and readily available to support operational requirements.
- Providing flexible support to the Highways team.

Requirements:
- GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade 4 (Grade C) or above.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of Section 278 and Section 38 agreements would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Keen to learn, enjoys working collaboratively, and takes pride in delivering a high-quality service.
