Highways Technology Technician

Role Overview

The Highways Technician will work in conjunction with the Regional Manager North working in the IU Installation Team - North to carry out Technology and Electrical Installations in Areas 7, 10, 12, 13 and 14 (Barnsley to Nottinghamshire, Hull to Leeds, Manchester to Liverpool, Cumbria to Preston and Newcastle to Thirsk). As well as supporting the designated maintenance contracts in these regions to develop and improve all technology performance. This Field based role and flexibility is required to work days/nights as the contract requires along with overnight stays due to the area to be covered.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support fault cover, fault rectification and maintenance on technology assets on designated contract area when required.
  • Liaise daily with the Lead engineer and Technology Engineers to ensure works are planned and equipment is available.
  • Cover electrical and technology installations in areas 7, 10, 12, 13 and 14
  • Fault attendance investigation and rectification
  • Proactively undertakes client and customer liaison, and deals with service partners, supply chain and other stakeholders as directed.
  • Opportunity to learn and work on highways technology; Midas, CCTV, ANPR, Traffic Signals, electrical testing/terminations and electrical joint repairs

Who You Are

A great opportunity to gain an NVQ Level 2 accreditation in this role, be trained and learn all about highways electrical & technology installations. This is an excellent opportunity if you enjoy driving, are a hands-on problem solver, like working outside, with an eagerness to learn then this could be the start or next step in your career.

Key Requirements

  • Willingness to learn, have previous fault finding, problem solving skills.
  • Planned maintenance and repairs
  • Adhere to MCX Specifications for Electrical/Technology installations
  • Comply with EH&S requirements
  • Flexibility to work days and nights as the contract requires along with overnight stays due to the area to be covered.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
