Job Title - Hire Controller

About the Role
Based in the depot, the Hire Controller is a vital part of operations on the front line of sales and customer service. Relationship-building is essential, as you will coordinate the entire hire process—from taking the order through to delivery and collection—liaising with every part of the depot to ensure customer needs are met and satisfaction is guaranteed.
On a day-to-day basis, this role will primarily involve desk-based work, collaborating closely with stock teams, drivers, and engineers to ensure minimal delays in fulfilling customer requirements. Ready access to equipment, combined with regular partnerships, is key to success.
Location & Working Hours
Location: Hull Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:30 - 17:00 (42 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the hire process from order submission to delivery and collection.
- Liaise across multiple depot departments to ensure customer needs are efficiently addressed.
- Work closely with stock, drivers, and engineering teams to minimise downtime and delays.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and operational teams.
- Ensure availability of equipment while maintaining service quality.

Requirements
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess:
- Strong organisational skills
- Effective communication—both verbal and written
- Adaptability & problem-solving capabilities
- Commitment to learning and development
- Full driving license
- Previous experience in the hire industry or a related sales/operational role
- Ability to support business sustainability efforts (ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver)
