Hire Controller
**Job Title: Hire Controller
Location: Poole
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 07:30 – 17:00 (42 hours per week)
About the Role
Speedy are the UK’s leading hire provider, offering a wide range of tools, specialist hire equipment, plant, and support services—everything for every job!
Based in the depot, the Hire Controller plays a key role in operations on the front line of sales and customer service. The success of this role relies heavily on relationship building, as the Hire Controller:
- Coordinates the entire hire process—from receiving orders to delivery and collection.
- Liaises with all depot departments to ensure customer needs are met.
- Ensures customer satisfaction with a swift, smooth service.
While desk-based, this role requires regular interaction with:
- Stock teams
- Drivers
- Engineers
The primary goal is to fulfil customer requirements with minimal delay, offering readily available equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the end-to-end hire process, from order placement to equipment delivery and collection.
- Works closely with internal teams (stock, drivers, engineers) to optimise turnaround times.
- Builds strong relationships with customers to retain business and foster long-term loyalty.
- Ensures timely and accurate communication throughout the hire process.
- Monitors equipment availability and adjusts orders as needed to meet demand.
- Assists in maintaining high standards of service in line with Speedy’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple orders efficiently.
- Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Adaptability—to handle varying demands and shifting priorities.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- A full UK driving license (essential, as travel between locations will be required).
- Previous experience in either:
- The hire industry, or
- A sales or operational role (relevant work experience in customer-facing positions is a plus).
- Ability to align with Speedy’s ESG goals, particularly in the Decade to Deliver strategy.
