We are looking to offer a Hire Controller the opportunity to join our expanding National Rental team based in Stevenage.

As a Hire Controller you will be a part of our commitment to deliver what we promise for our clients, within the leading essential infrastructure services provider operating within the UK & Ireland.

We offer a flexible working environment where hybrid working has been embedded. You would be required to attend the office three days per week.

About M Group Plant And Fleet And Your Team

With 8 depots across the UK, M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions provide innovative plant and fleet asset management solutions across M Group Services. We provide our business with more than 9,000 vehicles and over 25,000 owned or externally hired plant assets.

Our team has grown rapidly and we are responsible for the supply and management of specialist equipment and vehicles, supplying the Water, Energy, Transport, Data and Telecommunication sectors.

As a Hire Controller you will part of the National Rental Team that transacts all Rental enquiries relating to Plant, Fleet, Accommodation, Site Services and Tool requirements.

What will you be doing?

As part of our team, you will support our front-line operations by ensuring that all Vehicles, Plant, Tools, and Equipment are compliant, innovative, and fit for purpose. Your role will be key in helping the business operate efficiently and safely.

In your day-to-day role as Hire Controller, you will manage all rental requirements that come into the Plant & Fleet Rental mailbox, processing requests through systems such as InspHire, Jaama Key2, and Oracle. You’ll ensure every request is logged, actioned, and completed accurately.

  • You will work closely with our workshops, maximising the utilisation of M Group assets from all locations before turning to external suppliers.
  • Where internal stock isn’t available, you’ll liaise with our supply chain to source suitable equipment and make sure deliveries and collections are completed within agreed timeframes.

You will regularly review and reconcile live hire reports, ensuring all management software is up to date and correct. Part of this responsibility includes swapping external hires for internal assets whenever possible and resolving invoice or general queries quickly and efficiently.

  • Above all, you will build strong working relationships with colleagues across M Group Services and with our supply chain partners. Your ability to stay organised, communicate clearly, and manage the full rental cycle will ensure we continue delivering excellent service across the business.

What you’ll bring

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Administrative or Customer Service experience
  • Proven IT Skills with experience of Microsoft Office.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Relevant experience within either the Plant or Fleet Industry in a similar role
  • Experience of Insphire and/or Jaama Key2 desirable
