Hire Coordinator
Hire Coordinator – Ollerton Plant (Murphy)
About the Role
Murphy, a leader in infrastructure solutions across the UK, Ireland, Canada, and the USA, is recruiting a Hire Coordinator to support Murphy Plant at its Ollerton Plant. This role ensures seamless operations by managing plant equipment procurement, hire processes, and coordination across multiple sites—all while maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and delivery.
Operating across transportation, water, power, and natural resources, Murphy fosters an innovative, collaborative culture focused on employee development, work-life balance, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Internal & External Plant Procurement: Source plant equipment, ensuring best-in-class quality and cost efficiency for projects. Procure externally sourced plant and liaise with supply chains when required.
- Equipment Utilization & Tracking: Maximise usage of Murphy Plant Fleet by monitoring and off-hiring external equipment in exchange for available stock.
- Logistical Management: Oversee the hiring, deployment, and documentation of plant across 6 depots and up to 40 active sites, combining accuracy with operational efficiency.
- Customer-Facing Excellence: Deliver top-tier service to internal and external clients, ensuring clarity in specifications, timely delivery, and adherence to project timelines.
- Relationship Building: Collaborate with supply chain teams, maintenance suppliers, and depot managers to enhance Performance, Quality, and Delivery (PQD).
- Administrative & Financial Duties:
- Manage invoices and cost tracking.
- Maintain paper/paperless filing systems and quality records.
- Create documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Process Improvement: Follow established procedures, provide feedback for efficiency, and uphold Murphy’s core Values of Safety, Leadership, Integrity, and Respect.
- EDI (Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion): Actively promote inclusivity in workflows, aligning with Murphy’s policies.
- Multisite Coordination: Work across the UK operation, ensuring accurate plant logistics from start to finish.

Person Specification
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in a Hire Desk/Procurement role.
- Proficiency in Syrinx software (preferred).
- Office/commercial background with customer-facing experience, including telephone communications.
- IT aptitude: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Hands-on experience with plant operations (beneficial but not essential).
- Experience managing, reviewing, and processing invoices.
