King Lifting is a well-established, family-run business providing crane hire services and specialist plant and machinery movement solutions to the construction industry. Operating from depots across the UK, we are proud of our strong reputation and proven track record for delivering high-quality, reliable services.
We are seeking an experienced Hire Desk Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and ensure the efficient running of our Bristol hire desk based in Avonmouth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily allocation of assets and labour.
- Manage inbound telephone enquiries, ensuring all customer requests are handled promptly and professionally.
- Liaise with operatives to ensure all necessary information is provided ahead of works commencing.
- Prepare and issue contracts, job sheets, and operator tickets.
- Ensure operative training and medical certifications remain current and compliant with company policies.
- Source plant, labour, and equipment from external suppliers when required.
- Communicate with customers to confirm site-specific requirements prior to attendance.
- Maintain up-to-date inspection records for cranes and yard equipment in line with LOLER regulations.
- Manage annual leave requests for operatives and hire desk team members.

A proactive, positive, and solutions-focused approach is essential.
Skills & Experience…
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience of working on a hire desk and/or within the crane or plant hire industry.
- Experience managing subcontractors across multiple geographic locations.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills.

This is a full-time, office-based position (Monday to Friday). Therefore, candidates must live within a reasonable daily commuting distance to Avonmouth and have the legal right to work in the UK.
