Hoist & Stairlift Installation Engineer (Field-Based)

South East & West Sussex (commutable to Eastbourne area)

Package

  • £30,000 - £34,000 basic salary D.O.E.
  • Overtime available
  • 1-in-4 on-call rota with additional earnings
  • Company van, tools, and mobile phone provided

Role Overview

Field-based mobility equipment engineer responsible for the installation, servicing, and repair of stairlifts and ceiling track hoist systems within domestic environments. The role combines electrical and mechanical fault-finding with customer-facing service delivery, ensuring equipment is installed and maintained safely, reliably, and in compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and commission stairlifts and overhead hoist systems in customers' homes
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults efficiently and safely
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work
  • Manage your own field-based workload and daily schedule
  • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Ensure all work meets relevant health and safety and manufacturer standards
  • Provide professional, respectful customer service in private residences
  • Participate in a 1-in-4 emergency call-out rota

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience with stairlift installation and servicing
  • Experience with ceiling track hoists or mobility equipment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to participate in the call-out rota
  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Knowledge of LOLER / lifting equipment regulations
  • Electrical qualifications (18th Edition, NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
  • Background in healthcare, assisted living, or field service engineering
  • Manual handling training
