As part of the Student Experience Group Directorate, the Home Admissions Manager leads the operational delivery of the University's Home Admissions Service, ensuring an efficient, compliant and applicant-focused admissions process for UK undergraduate and postgraduate applicants. Reporting to the Head of Admissions, the role provides operational leadership across the admissions lifecycle, managing the Home Admissions Team and delivering Confirmation, Clearing and Enrolment.
The postholder ensures regulatory compliance, drives continuous improvement, oversees complex admissions cases and works collaboratively with Academic Colleges, Professional Services and the Admissions Systems & Data Lead to enhance systems, processes and the applicant experience, supporting the University's strategic recruitment and student experience objectives.

Job Purpose
The Home Admissions Manager leads the operational delivery of the University's Home Admissions Service, ensuring an efficient, compliant and applicant-focused admissions process for UK undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
Working closely with the Head of Admissions, Academic Colleges and Professional Services, the post-holder manages and develops a high-performing team, delivers operational excellence across the applicant lifecycle, drives continuous improvement and ensures compliance with University policy, regulatory requirements and sector best practice.
The post-holder will actively contribute to an inclusive University community where colleagues and applicants are treated fairly, equitably and with respect.
Main Duties & Responsibilities Of The Role
Operational Leadership and Service Delivery
- Lead the operational delivery of the Home Admissions Service, ensuring an efficient, compliant and applicant-focused service aligned to the University’s recruitment objectives.
- Develop and deliver the annual admissions operational plan, including the successful delivery of Confirmation, Clearing and Enrolment.
- Monitor operational performance against agreed KPIs, using data and management information to identify risks, opportunities and service improvements.
- Ensure admissions decisions are applied consistently in accordance with University policy, published entry requirements and regulatory obligations.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, guidance and business continuity arrangements to support effective service delivery.
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead, motivate and develop the Home Admissions Team through effective recruitment, induction, performance management and professional development.
- Plan and allocate staffing resources to ensure appropriate operational cover and achievement of service standards throughout the admissions cycle.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing culture within the Home Admissions Team that promotes accountability, continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
- Act as the escalation point for complex admissions decisions, complaints and operational issues.
Admissions Policy, Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Support the development, implementation and review of admissions policy, procedures and operational guidance, ensuring consistent application across the Home Admissions Service.
- Ensure the Home Admissions Service operates in compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and sector best practice, including the Office for Students (OfS), Consumer Protection (CMA), Equality Act 2010, UKVI (where applicable), PSRB requirements and Data Protection legislation.
- Manage operational quality assurance, audit and compliance activity, ensuring consistent decision-making, robust admissions records and effective management of complex cases relating to Fee Status Assessment, Right to Study and fraudulent applications.
- Maintain awareness of legislative and sector developments, implementing operational changes where required.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership
- Build effective partnerships with Academic Colleges and Professional Services to support recruitment, admissions and portfolio development.
- Represent Home Admissions at University committees, projects, applicant events and external forums.
- Work collaboratively with the Admissions Systems & Data Lead and International Admissions Manager to deliver a consistent, integrated and high-quality admissions service.
Applicant Experience And Conversion
- Ensure applicants receive accurate, timely and professional advice throughout the admissions lifecycle, meeting agreed service standards and delivering an excellent applicant experience.
- Manage operational delivery of applicant conversion activity to maximise application completion, offer acceptance, enrolment and applicant satisfaction.
- Use management information and applicant feedback to identify trends, improve operational performance and enhance service delivery.
- Lead service improvements, systems enhancements and process redesign to improve efficiency and the applicant experience.
- Contribute to the development of admissions procedures, operational guidance and wider service improvement initiatives.

Systems and Continuous Improvement
- Work strategically with the Admissions Systems & Data Lead to ensure admissions systems, CRM platforms, reporting and applicant communications effectively support operational delivery.
Safeguarding and Student Suitability
- Provide operational oversight of admissions activity relating to applicants under 18, DBS, Occupational Health, Fitness to Practise and other professional suitability requirements.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are managed and escalated in accordance with University procedures.
General
- Undertake line management responsibilities in accordance with University policies and procedures.
- Comply with all relevant legislation, University policies and regulatory requirements, including Health & Safety, Equality, Data Protection and UKVI compliance.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

- Degree or equivalent professional experience
- Evidence of relevant professional development within Higher Education, Admissions, Compliance or Student Recruitment
Knowledge & Experience

- Delivering an excellent customer experience
- Significant experience of working within a Higher Education Admissions environment
- Extensive experience of home undergraduate and/or postgraduate admissions decision-making, including complex and non-standard cases
- Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end applicant lifecycle, including applicant conversion, admissions decision-making, enrolment and student record management
- Proven experience of leading, managing and developing admissions teams, including performance management
- Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing admissions policy, process improvement and regulatory compliance activity
- Experience of building effective relationships with senior academic and professional service stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK Higher Education admissions, including UCAS, qualifications, applicant lifecycle management, admissions systems, CRM platforms, entry requirements and sector developments.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory framework governing Higher Education admissions, including OfS, CMA, UKVI (where applicable), Data Protection and Fee Status Assessment
- Experience of using data, management information and reporting tools to monitor performance, identify trends and inform strategic decisions
- Experience of leading operational improvement, projects or systems development.
- Experience of Confirmation and Clearing operational planning and delivery
