Location: Sunlight House, Kingston
Job Purpose
Fabric Cleaning is the powerhouse of Unilever Home Care in the UK — our largest category and home to two iconic brands: Persil and Surf.
Persil, the #1 Fabric Cleaning brand in the UK (RSV £290m+), is one of the most recognised and trusted names in the market. Driven by its world-renowned “Dirt is Good” platform, Persil combines superior performance with purpose — inspiring people to get stuck into life without fear of getting dirty.
Surf, one of the UK’s biggest Home Care brands (RSV €170m+), wins with long-lasting fragrance, great value and a playful personality. As the #1 fragrance brand in UK Fabric Cleaning, Surf connects with consumers through emotion and sensorial superiority.
With an ambitious innovation and portfolio roadmap ahead, this role plays a defining part in shaping the future of the category. We are looking for a commercially sharp, entrepreneurial and growth-driven leader to drive transformational growth across Persil and Surf, unlock the next phase of our Wonder Wash portfolio, and build distinctive consumer journeys across all channels.
This is a high-visibility strategic role with significant exposure to UKI Home Care leadership, European Business Unit and Global Brand teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Persil and Surf growth agenda, owning full P&L accountability and delivering against market share, turnover and profitability targets.
- Shape and execute the brand and portfolio strategy, driving long-term category value and sustainable growth.
- Drive portfolio prioritisation and investment trade-offs to maximise short- and long-term performance.
- Lead high-profile innovation and renovation programmes end-to-end, ensuring pace, quality and strong commercial delivery.
- Partner with CMI and Net Revenue Management to unlock new growth opportunities across channels and shopper missions.
- Develop and deliver integrated, multi-channel communication strategies (Digital, TV, PR, Influencers, Shopper), ensuring creative excellence, memorable consumer journey and local relevance.
- Partner with Sales and CSP to shape channel strategy, expand distribution and drive promotional and shopper excellence.
- Influence and align European and Global stakeholders, ensuring UK strategy is represented and embedded within broader business priorities.
- Lead post-launch and campaign performance optimisation, translating data and insights into decisive action.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, developing future marketing leaders and strengthening category capability.
- Champion an entrepreneurial and agile mindset, driving continuous improvement in ways of working and innovation governance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
What can I do?
If you become aware of potential recruitment fraud, spot fake Unilever recruitment adverts or fake LinkedIn profiles, report them via Una Live Chat.
Unilever does not accept responsibility or liability for any candidates who are financially impacted by recruitment fraud. Your vigilance is key!
