About the Role
Our stores are fast-paced environments where no two days are ever the same, driven by a passion for food. As the heart of the local community, we deliver outstanding value, quality, and great service. As a Home Delivery Driver, you’ll be an essential component, ensuring our online customers receive every item they order from Sainsbury’s promptly and in perfect condition.
Eligibility
To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be over 18 with a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months
- Hold no more than 6 points on said licence
- Complete a driving risk assessment during the interview process; successful candidates will have a supplementary driving assessment when they join
- Be eligible to work in the UK
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Operate a 3.5-tonne van to deliver groceries safely and punctually to customers’ doorsteps
- Perform pre-drive checks to ensure:
- The van is regulated, clean, roadworthy
- Delivery cases are secure ready for movement
- Manage deliveries in various locations and conditions with defensive-driving principles
- Deliver excellent customer service, addressing questions, substitute requests, and communicating delays
- Develop strong product knowledge of our offerings, including services and promotions, to enable recommendations
- Assist across-store when delivery tasks are complete—helping where needed as part of the team effort
