As one of our Home Delivery Drivers, you’ll be one of the special ingredients that delivers everything our online customers shop at Sainsbury’s.
Eligibility
To apply for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be over 18 years old
- Hold a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months
- Have no more than 6 points on your licence
- Be eligible to work in the UK
- Successfully complete an online driving risk assessment followed by a driving assessment when hired
Responsibilities
As a Home Delivery Driver, your key responsibilities include:
- Driving a 3.5-tonne van to deliver groceries to customer doorsteps on-time and in great condition
- Conducting vehicle checks to ensure:
- Vans are organised, clean, and roadworthy
- Delivery cases are secure
- Operating safely across various locations and conditions, from busy residential streets to narrow country lanes
- Providing excellent customer service:
- Resolving any customer questions or substitutions
- Keeping customers informed of any potential delays
- Gaining in-depth knowledge of Sainsbury’s products, services, and promotions to provide tailored recommendations
- Supporting across the store when required, helping with operational tasks as needed

To excel in this role, the following skills and attributes are essential:
- A friendly, approachable personality, with genuine enthusiasm for helping customers
- Proficient large-vehicle driving, showing confidence across diverse routes (residential and rural areas)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, physical, high-energy environment, working independently and with initiative
- Willingness to flex and adapt, ensuring consistently high standards even during store-based rotations
- Comfort with physical tasks, including handling and transporting up to 15kg containers
- Eager to embrace new digital technologies, quickly adapting to a variety of tools
