The Early Start Home Visitor meets with expectant parents and families with young children in Stephenson and Winnebago County, providing strength-based, family-centered services, comprehensive assessments, and parent support groups and education. As a Home Visitor, you will develop safe and trusting relationships with expectant and new parents, helping them to expand their support networks and maximize access to needed services while providing support and expertise as they successfully navigate the parenting journey. The Home Visitor will also complete home visits with expectant parents, advocate for clients' access to community resources, provide strength-based and family-centered parent education and assess for safety.
Core Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with families with young children in their homes to complete assessments, develop goals, and provide services aligned with the strengths and needs of the child and family.
- Provide observations of parent-child interactions, including assessing for effective communication and empathic responses, and engage parents in reflective dialogue on the developing parent-child relationship.
- Assist parents in forming community connections aligned with service goals, including referral and linkage with providers of early intervention, mental health, health care, and other supportive services.
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with key community providers.

Candidate Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Social Work, Child Development, or a closely related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred in Social Work, Child Development, or closely related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with families with children under the age of 5 required.
- Must be certified in appropriate program model or obtain certification within 90 days of hire and must maintain certification throughout employment.
- Adept at communicating effectively – both in writing and verbally.
- Must be able to attend in-person family visits and meetings.
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish preferred.
- Experience in working with culturally diverse communities and families preferred.
Job Details
Compensation
Hourly range is between $19-$21 per hour; offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates may receive additional compensation. The salary range provided represents our current estimate for this role at the time of posting and is subject to change. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs. Location
Hybrid (office-based/remote). Must be available to provide home- and community-based services, in-person, to program participants in Stephenson and Winnebago Counties, and work from the home office in Rockford, IL at least 3-4 days per week for in-person engagements with the team and supervisor.
Schedule
- Full-time, hourly. Monday - Friday, general business hours with some flexibility to provide evening availability as needed to accommodate client schedules.
