Permanent Part-Time Hospital Veterinary Surgeon – Bridgend, South Wales
Location: Bridgend, South Wales Position: Permanent Part-Time Hospital Veterinary Surgeon Salary: £50,000-£60,000 FTE Hours: 3 fixed days, 8am–5pm (no OOH). Wednesdays & Thursdays + either Monday or Friday Practice: Independent Small Animal RCVS Accredited Hospital & Emergency Service Clinic

Shepherds the Vets is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to manage inpatients, support outpatient diagnostic imaging, uphold strong clinical standards, and mentor graduating vets in a friendly, independent team.

The Role
As a part-time Hospital Veterinary Surgeon, you will:
- Assess and manage new inpatients, plan/prioritise treatment, and ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Lead outpatient diagnostic procedures (imaging, cardiology, etc.).
- Foster a clinical environment that prioritises excellence and best-practice standards.
- Coach and develop junior vets within the team.
- Operate comfortably at all academic levels (referrals, ECC, diagnostics).

Requirements
We’re looking for a clinical leader with:
- Experience: Confident hands-on experience in inpatients, ECC, diagnostics, and critical decision-making.
- Attitude: Focused on maintaining high standards and promoting best practice.
- Skills:
- Collaborative collaborator who enjoys coaching and mentoring junior colleagues
- Current or recent VCGP Adviser or postgraduate qualifications in medicine, ECC, diagnostic imaging, or cardiology (AP status preferred)
