Hospitality Assistantrole – Part-Time
Job Details
- **Hours: ** 12 hours per week
- **Hourly rate: ** £13.45 per hour
- **Salary: ** £26,227.50 (pro-rated for part-time)
- **Time Type: ** Part-time
About the Role
The Hospitality Assistant will work closely with the Head Chef (Village) and Chef (Village) to provide a clean, welcoming food and drink service in our village café for residents and customers.
Key Results & Responsibilities
- Creates a welcoming environment with a focus on customer service, delivering a variety of food and drink options
- Builds strong rapports with residents
- Provides café and breakfast services, including barista duties
- Operates EPOS systems to serve customers effectively
- Maintains daily cleanliness, hygiene, and washing up standards
- Safely closes down kitchens daily, ensuring compliance with food safety protocols
- Waste removal in accordance with organisational guidelines
Skills & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Communication skills: Strong written, verbal, and numeracy abilities
- Ability to communicate with diverse groups, including people with additional needs
- Demonstrates clear reasoning and analysis in daily tasks
- Flexible thinking and problem-solving approach
- Works effectively in a team while fostering relationships of trust
- Awareness of care-related issues, including:
- Working with older people and residents with dementia
- Recognising cultural and individual differences
- Supporting mild physical/emotional situations in a caring manner

- Key working knowledge in:
- Good food hygiene practices
- Health and safety principles
- Basic numeracy/literacy skills
Desirable Experience
- Barista-trained or experience of café/coffee services
- Food hygiene certificate (Level 2/Equivalent or equivalent NVQ)
- Previous catering or food service experience, preferably in busy café/restaurant environments
- Experience working with older adults or care-related settings
