Hospitality & Events Manager WWT Slimbridge (Centre) – South-West England

About the Role
As the Hospitality & Events Manager, you will oversee guest accommodation, corporate bookings, events, and functions, ensuring every visitor experiences the highest standards of quality, professionalism, and connection to wildlife conservation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining premium presentation standards.
- Collaborating with Catering Services and Kitchen Managers to maximise revenue, uncover commercial opportunities, and enhance WWT’s reputation.
- Creating meaningful guest experiences that tie WWT’s mission—restoring wetlands and their ecological significance—to personal interest.
Key Responsibilities
This full-time role involves managing guest bookings, client relationships, and on-site event delivery:
Core Accountabilities

Accommodation:
- Supervise stays at Warblers Meadow and Bewick’s Lodge.
- Ensure consistent standards of cleanliness, comfort, and service.

Event & Corporate Functions:
- Coordinate corporate hires, team-building days, private events (e.g., weddings, birthdays), and memorial services.
- Oversee internal staff functions with the same level of innovation and professionalism.

Event Coordination:
- Align across departments (e.g., finance, reserves, catering, retail).
- Manage staffing, logistics, and timelines for seamless execution.
- Exceed client expectations on all fronts.

Essential Requirements
To excel as WWT’s Hospitality & Events Manager, you will need:
✅ Leadership & Team Development:
- Proven experience as a catering or guest service team leader.
- Skills in coaching, developing, and leading high-performance teams.
✅ Customer Service & Soft Skills:
- Exceptional customer care with adaptable communication (written/verbal).
- Unwavering passion for creating outstanding guest experiences.
✅ Organisation & Problem-Solving:
- Ability to manage seasonal promotions and campaigns with creative adaptability.
- Analytical and solution-oriented mindset.
✅ Collaboration:
- Strong ability to work across teams (e.g., finance, catering, operations).
- Negotiation and relationship-building with external suppliers.
✅ Administrative & Technical Skills:
- Proficient in booking systems, spreadsheets, and Microsoft 365.
- High attention to detail and planning.
✅ Commercial Awareness:
- Experience in driving revenue growth via upselling and identifying strategic opportunities.
