SOUTH AFRICAN OPPORTUNITY FOR AFRIKAANS SPEAKING INDIVIDUALS

Location: Franschhoek, Western Cape, SOUTH AFRICA

Compensation: Up to R100,000.00 or GBP4,600.00 per month

Reports to: Estate Ownership

Language Requirement: FLUENT Afrikaans and English essential (non-negotiable)

Relocation: Required for candidates not based in the Franschhoek / Cape Winelands area

Overview

Sataya is representing a distinguished wine estate and luxury hospitality property in the heart of the Cape Winelands. The estate is known for its high standard of guest experience, its blend of accommodation, food and beverage, and leisure offerings, and its position as one of the region's most respected hospitality destinations.

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to take full accountability for hotel operations. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring someone equally comfortable setting strategic direction as they are on the floor during peak periods. The property operates across multiple departments, including rooms, food and beverage, leisure, tour guiding and reservations, and the General Manager will need to lead this breadth of operation with confidence and consistency.

Given the region and guest profile, fluency in both Afrikaans and English is essential to this role, as is a strong command of rooms division operations and revenue management. This is a business where seasonal trading patterns matter, and the successful candidate will need a demonstrated ability to protect performance through quieter periods as well as peak season.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Operational & Rooms Division Leadership
    • Take full accountability for the day-to-day operations of the hotel, with particular oversight of the rooms division and reservations function
    • Manage all operational departments, including front office, housekeeping, tour guiding, leisure services and human resources
    • Set and maintain operational standards across departments, ensuring consistency in guest-facing delivery

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
