I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are particularly interested in candidates with strong knowledge and experience within the marketing industry, ideally gained through working within a marketing agency or as a freelance marketing professional. The successful candidate will be able to bring real-world insights into the classroom, helping students develop practical skills and industry knowledge.
The role will involve supporting students to create a professional portfolio of work that demonstrates the planning, delivery and evaluation of a complete digital marketing campaign. Lecturers will guide students through the process of securing and working with clients, interpreting briefs, developing campaign strategies, delivering marketing activity and presenting results in a professional context.
Candidates should have experience in one or more areas of digital marketing, such as content marketing, social media marketing, SEO, digital advertising, analytics, UX/UI or related disciplines, alongside a credible professional/industry profile. Applicants should also be able to engage and connect with students across all undergraduate levels and demonstrate evidence of high-quality teaching practice and experience of delivering further or higher education programmes.
