House Porter

As a House Porter at The Dorchester Hotel, you will have a unique opportunity to excel in your field, learning from fellow team members and an award-winning learning academy to achieve the highest standards.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Positive Attitude: Be friendly and willing to help others.
  • Teamwork: Work well with your teammates and help them when needed.
  • Energetic: Be able to carry and move items safely (e.g., laundry, cleaning supplies).
  • Punctuality: Be on time and reliable every day.
  • Basic Understanding of Safety: Follow instructions to stay safe at work.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience: You’ve worked as a house porter in a 5-star hotel before.
  • Organizational skills: You can sort and arrange items neatly.
  • Flexibility: You are happy to work different shifts or handle new tasks.
  • Positive attitude: You are friendly and enjoy helping others.
  • English language skills: You can read instructions and write brief notes.

Responsibilities

As a House Porter, you'll enjoy your work and take pride in delighting our guests:

  • You will be responsible for delivering housekeeping supplies to the different floors as directed by the floor supervisor and ensure that all housekeeping stores are well maintained.
  • You will assist with spring cleaning duties when needed, including hoovering and dusting corridors, carpet edges, dust tops of wall lights, mouldings and wash down walls.
  • You will also be required to organise special room set-ups for special guests’ requirements, all to ensure our guests receive nothing but the best experience.
  • You’ll also show flexibility and creativity in dealing with guests’ special requests and challenges that may arise during the day.

The operational hours of work are shift-based and may be subjected to change. These currently set as: Monday to Sunday: starting as early as 7am and last shift finishes at 23:00pm when covering the evening floor porter shift.
