About The Role
House Services employs over 400 colleagues to deliver the highest standards in cleaning, portering, and associated services across the University’s Academic, Teaching, and Learning Estate. This position is part-time, working 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday between 6:45 AM and 9:30 PM on a flexible schedule.
The Role
We are seeking a House Services Assistant Cluster Manager to support the day-to-day operations of House Services within the Directorate of Estates and Facilities. Reporting to the House Services Cluster Manager, you will:
- Coordinate cleaning, hygiene, maintenance, and facilities support across the university campus
- Support management of frontline teams, supervisory staff, and operational delivery
- Monitor and enhance service standards, staff deployment, and customer service
- Assist with inductions, staff welfare, attendance, performance, and training initiatives
- Escalate concerns regarding operational efficiency or customer satisfaction when necessary
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support: Aid in planning, scheduling, and deployment of staff across diverse estates services
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene protocols
- People Management: Contribute to staff welfare, performance reviews, and training programs
- Communication & Reporting: Utilise IT tools for administrative tasks, reporting, and maintaining records
- Health & Safety: Promote adherence to health and safety regulations, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), information governance, and sustainability policies

Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience in supporting operational teams, monitoring service quality, and meeting agreed service requirements
- Strong organisational, communication, and customer service skills
- Proficiency in IT systems for administration, planning, and reporting
- Awareness of health and safety, EDI, information governance, and sustainability principles
- Holding a facilities management qualification or practical experience in a comparable operational role
