Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Housekeeper to join the friendly and motivated team on Ffrancon Ward. This role is integral to supporting the smooth running of the clinical environment and maintaining high standards of patient care.

The post holder will undertake a range of non-clinical duties, including ordering and managing ward stock, completing routine audits, and supporting compliance with ward standards. The Housekeeper will work closely with the Nurse in Charge and Ward Manager to escalate concerns, provide feedback to staff, and contribute to a safe, clean, and well-organised ward environment.

The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication and IT skills.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Welcome, receive, and direct patients, relatives, and visitors to the ward, liaising with the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
  • Support the nurse in charge by coordinating non-clinical aspects of the ward environment, ensuring visitors and relatives are dealt with promptly, sensitively, and with empathy.
  • Provide general information to patients and visitors, ensuring clear and professional communication at all times.
  • Receive and relay messages effectively, maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Handle minor concerns or complaints, taking appropriate action and escalating to senior staff when required.
  • Maintain awareness of current standards, including food hygiene, infection prevention and control, and waste segregation procedures, ensuring compliance at ward level.
  • Support the Ward Manager in maintaining ward accreditation, accurate records, and monitoring compliance with Mandatory Training requirements where appropriate.
  • Assist the Ward Manager in reviewing and implementing changes to local policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the ordering, stocking, and monitoring of ward supplies and equipment, ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of resources.
  • Promote a clean, safe, and organised ward environment, supporting high standards of patient care and experience.
