Housekeeper
Public Area Housekeeper
Hours: 30–40 hours per week
Working pattern: Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off
Typical shifts: 8:00am–4:00pm
Priory Wareham is looking for a reliable and detail-focused Public Area Housekeeper to take ownership of the cleanliness and presentation of the hotel’s public areas.
This is an important role within our housekeeping team, helping to ensure that guests receive an excellent first impression and that all shared areas are maintained to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking responsibility for the daily cleaning and presentation of all hotel public areas.
- Cleaning and maintaining reception areas, lounges, corridors, staircases, public toilets and other shared guest spaces.
- Ensuring public areas remain clean, tidy and presentable throughout the day.
- Regularly checking high-traffic areas and responding promptly to any cleaning requirements.
- Cleaning windows, mirrors, furniture, fixtures and decorative items as required.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and dusting throughout the hotel.
- Monitoring cleaning products and supplies and reporting when stock needs replenishing.
- Reporting any maintenance issues, damage or health and safety concerns.
- Working closely with the wider housekeeping and hotel teams.
- Occasionally supporting bedroom housekeeping or other cleaning duties when required.

The successful candidate will take genuine ownership of the hotel’s public areas and will be trusted to maintain them to the highest possible standard. Cover will be arranged for the role on Monday and Tuesday.

About You
You will be:
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
- Proud of maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness.
- Organised and able to manage your own daily workload.
- Attentive to detail and proactive in identifying areas that require attention.
- Friendly, professional and comfortable working around hotel guests.
- Physically able to carry out cleaning duties throughout a full shift.
- Available to work Wednesday to Sunday, including weekends.
Previous housekeeping or professional cleaning experience would be beneficial, although full training can be provided to the right candidate.
