About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and hardworking Housekeeper to join the team at Emergency Departments at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
Main Responsibilities
- Work integrally with the team to uphold high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in an emergency setting.
- Liaise with staff, patients, and visitors—providing support while fostering a compassionate atmosphere.
- Order and manage stock levels, ensuring essential supplies are available.
- Maintain high cleanliness standards across the department, using appropriate chemicals and equipment.
- Prioritise workload effectively, operating with minimal direct supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate professionally with all levels of staff, both in person and via telephone.
- Demonstrate IT literacy for administrative tasks where required.

Key Skills and Experience
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in cleaning duties, including correct use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Strong health and safety awareness for high-risk, healthcare settings.
- Excellent organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently under flexible, dynamic conditions.
- Basic IT competency for stock/asset management tasks.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience with stock control or supply management.
- Exposure to working in NHS or high-care environments would be beneficial.
