Housekeeping Assistant

The Lister Hospital, London

Full Time, 37.5 hours/ week
Shifts between 0630am and 2200pm, 5 days out of 7 to include weekends
Permanent £14.80/ hour + excellent benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits package plus career development)

We’re looking for a dedicated Housekeeping Assistant to join our Hotel Services team based at The Lister Hospital. Our Hotel Services team plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of the hospital, ensuring that all patient rooms, clinical areas, and shared spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation.

Working behind the scenes and on the front line, the team helps create a welcoming, calm, and hygienic environment where patients can focus on their recovery and visitors feel reassured from the moment they arrive.

About the Role

As a Housekeeping Assistant, you’ll be a key contributor to the overall patient experience, supporting both care delivery and hospital operations through your attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Day to day, your work will include:

  • Cleaning patient rooms, public areas, and staff spaces.
  • Ensuring every area is safe, tidy, and presentable.
  • Working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to support the smooth running of the hospital.

This is a hands-on, rewarding role where your work is immediately visible and genuinely valued, offering the opportunity to make a difference every single day.

Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. It’s this guiding vision that influences everything we do at HCA UK. From the CEO to the colleagues on the floor, we all have a part to play in delivering exceptional care to our patients. Other’s may think this is just a role in Hotel Services, but to us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a unique sense of purpose, one that helps improve lives on a daily basis.

What you’ll do:

  • Be passionate about both patient care and cleanliness.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Be comfortable working in a hospital environment and coming into contact with patients.
  • Ensure our communal areas are clean and tidy for visitors.
  • Perform any tasks specifically assigned to you.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor or designee.
  • Attend mandatory training on an annual basis.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
