Housekeeping Assistant - Contract Role
Kingfisher House Care Home Perth, Riverside Location
Location: Perth, Riverside
Full-time contract starting at £12.71 per hour
Paid benefits include:
- PAID PVG PfCO (full check)
- Contributory pension
- Uniform provided
- 5.6 weeks’ annual leave (pro-rata for part-time)
Role Overview
As a Housekeeping Assistant, you’ll maintain a spotless, safe and welcoming environment while supporting essential laundry services. This is a hands-on yet varied role where your attention to detail directly enhances residents’ comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Deep cleaning and maintaining residents’ rooms, bathrooms, and communal areas to the highest standards of hygiene and presentation
- Supporting laundry duties: washing, drying, ironing, folding, sorting and returning linen and resident clothing properly labelled with care
- Following strict infection control protocols, health & safety guidelines and housekeeping policies
- Working closely with the wider care team to ensure a well-organised, respectful and haven-like environment

Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of all interior and communal spaces—upholding standards of sanitation, organisation and resident dignity
- Handle laundry with precision: sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and distributing items correctly labelled and with thoughtfulness
- Maintain a well-stocked clutter-free environment, committing to tidiness in both work and living spaces
- Adhere strictly to hybridückte infection and safety protocols while reporting hazards promptly
- Collaborate with carers, nurses, and managers—communication is key to delivering seamless, high-quality care
- Support any additional housekeeping-related tasks as required, maintaining a proactive and adaptive approach

Person Specification
We look for candidates who bring to the team:
- A positive, reliable and professional attitude— noen who rises to the consistency and compassion that care demands
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise tasks efficiently under supervision
- Independence at work, yet a willingness to availably as a team player—because care is always better shared
- Clear communication and Emotional Intelligence (ability to support residents with sensitivity)
- Basic understanding of hygiene and infection control (playing a know-how is beneficial but practical experience takes precedence over paperwork)
- We welcome experience (provided in housekeeping/cleaning) or caring roles—but laureates with a commitment to learning are also warmly invited
